4% higher boiler efficiency for Carlsberg

For global brewer Carlsberg, we implemented a heat recovery system that captures energy from corrosive flue gases from a biogas-fired steam boiler. The combustion air is preheated to 80°C, resulting in a system output of 290 kW and a 4% increase in boiler efficiency.

At its CPVC (thermoplastic) production site in Farmsum (Groningen), Lubrizol was looking for ways to reduce the energy use of its drying processes. We recovered heat from corrosive flue gases to preheat the incoming air for the dryer from 10 to 56 °C. This resulted in an energy saving of 170 kW

290 kW energy gain through heat integration at Sonac Loenen

At Sonac Loenen B.V., 81 °C flue gas from a dryer is used to preheat the supply air for that same dryer – from 10 to 52 °C. Thanks to polymer technology and an integrated cleaning system, this is done without any corrosion or fouling issues.

USG recovers 5.6 MW of heat from corrosive flue gases

For USG, the utility provider at Chemelot industrial park, we enabled the reuse of flue gases from the incinerator. These now heat the boiler feedwater in the site’s steam network from 20 to 96 °C. With a capacity of 5.6 MW, this results in a major CO₂ reduction.

Aviko Rixona saves 220 tons of CO₂ annually

To reduce CO₂ emissions, Aviko Rixona teamed up with Heat Matrix to recover heat from the 170 °C flue gases of their steam boiler. A polymer air preheater prevented corrosion from the biogas. The result: 130 kW energy savings and a 220-ton reduction in CO₂ emissions per year.

Heat recovery from corrosive flue gases at refinery

A refinery was losing large amounts of energy through corrosive flue gases. To reduce CO₂ emissions, Heat Matrix installed a sulphuric acid-resistant air preheater. With a capacity of 3,200 kW, this system improved the furnace efficiency by 4%.

For a water treatment facility, Heat Matrix developed a system to recover heat from biogas flue gases. The system is expected to deliver 191 kW of thermal output, heating 8,000 litres of water per hour from 75 to 90 °C.
